Expenditure on room hire has risen by nearly 36% but we consider this to be justified by the significantly improved quality of meeting space. Our assets have increased slightly so there is no need yet to increase our fees.
The meeting accepted this summary.
Publicity report
AB described how she publicises our activities in local newspapers and other media such as Radio Cornwall. The Cornish Times has increased its restriction on word count. Reports are usually submitted after every meeting and field trip and are known to result in greater attendance by new people. A scrapbook of reports has been maintained by PF.The meeting thanked Anne for her efforts.
Membership report
TH reported on CAGG membership, which is currently at 31 members.Re-election of committee
The current committee consists of:Peter Jackson Secretary Calum Beeson Education Pat Fitzsimmons Treasurer Anne Bolt Publicity Tina Hitchings Membership Bob Jay Megan Shute Emma Stockley
RJ and PF are resigning as committee members and were thanked for their service, in particular PF for her work as Treasurer.
Other committee members have volunteered to continue.
Because we prefer officer roles to be taken by existing committee members, PNJ has volunteered as Treasurer in addition to remaining as Secretary. This was agreed and resolved that PNJ would replace PF as a signatory of the CAGG bank account. These actions were supported by show of hands.
Remaining committee members were re-elected by show of hands.
In addition, two members volunteered to join the committee and were elected by show of hands. These are:
Helen Argent Dave Jean
Topics and field trips
CB gave a presentation about last year's meetings and trips followed by a summary of those planned for this year.Notable forthcoming field trips are:
- 2019-06-29 - Trethevy Quoit
- We hope to collaborate with an Archaeological project at this site - more details as planning continues.
- 2019-11-30 - Lyme Regis
- We intend this to be a coach trip so that members are spared a long drive and we'll have more flexibility on the day. This time of year is chosen because conditions are much better for fossil hunting. The cost is likely to be of the order of £15 for each participant.
