The CAGG programme of meetings and trips in 2019 is noted below.


2019 Talks 2019 Field Trips
Unless otherwise stated, all talks take place on the third Friday of the month at the Echo Centre, Liskeard at 19:30. All field trips take place on the last Saturday of the month and start at 11:00 am unless stated otherwise.

South Caradon Mines - Meet at Minions outside the Cheesewring Hotel, PL14 5LE. A moorland walk around the surface workings of what was once the largest copper mine in the world with opportunities to collect mineral samples.

Polzeath - Meet at the top of Polzeath beach near the bridge, PL27 6SP. Purple and green slates, sand dunes and hydrothermal mineral veins will be encountered on a walk to Daymer Bay and St. Enodoc Church.

Trethevy Quoit - Meet at Darite Village Hall, parking available at the school, PL14 5JH. A chance to see the archaeological dig and find out what we have discovered about the geology.

Camborne School of Mines - Meet in car park D, TR10 9FE. A private tour around the Camborne School of Mines museum and geology teaching facilities with an afternoon trip out in the surrounding area.

Cape Cornwall - Meet in the car park near Priests Cove, TR19 7NN. Granite, slate and basalt plus some unusual tourmaline rocks all in one cove with the distinctive Cape Cornwall behind.

Perranporth - Meet on the seafront near the car park, TR6 0JN. The Perranporth mines are rumoured to be the oldest in Cornwall. We will explore the area and see what evidence we can find.

Millendreath - Meet in the Black Rock Beach Cafe, PL13 1PD. Fossils and rare mineralisation can be encountered in this quiet little beach. What else will we find?
Saturday 2019-11-30
Lyme Regis - Coach picking up from Liskeard and Saltash (details to follow). A coach trip to the world famous fossil hunting grounds of Lyme Regis, or just look around the town and museum if you prefer.
Friday 2019-12-27
Fourth Annual CAGG Geology Games - Meet at 11:00 am at Seaton (Cornwall) in the Seaton Beach Cafe, PL11 3JQ. A very light hearted series of challenges with a geological theme. No knowledge of geology is needed and there will be prizes for the winners.
